Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. __ Luke 17:3-5 KJV
So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister[a] sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.” The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” __ Luke 17:3-5 NIV
Jesus said “you must forgive them”. Jesus would never command us to do something that we do not have the ability to do. There have been times when I have said like the disciples, “Give me more faith!” But what I really needed was one faith—faith in God and that He is just.
Like the Christian life, Forgiveness is simple, but not easy. Forgiveness is a decision, not a feeling. Forgiveness is a decision to trust God to make “it” right!
