Snow and Ice

Looking out of the window this morning, what did I see?  Snow and Ice.snow tree

There is snow on the grass and ice hanging from everything  suspended  above the ground. Snow covers the ugly leaves that I  did not pick up before the storm.  It covers the cracks in the concrete with a beautiful fluffy white blanket.   And each uneven shrub has its own fuzzy white hat . And the ice, its weight has caused my soft leyland fronds to bow at the waist.  The barren tree limbs now hold dangling crystal daggers.    The cold air has affected me. It has made me look outward. I see the snow as deception and the ice as pride.

Scardinal in snowNOW     Snow is a covering;  Deception is the label other than the truth that we put on the “cracks” in our lives.  Instead of sin, we call it my challenge, habit,  dysfunction, and the like.   Sin is my action in opposition to the will of God.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.__Hebrews 4:12-13NIV

iciclesICE     The coolness of Pride places pressure on others to be, to do, to “bend” to the preferences of another.  Pride is a dagger of judgment, not of God.

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. __ Romans 12:3 KJV

When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.__Proverbs 11:22 KJV

A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. __Proverbs 20:23 KJV

The Good News is that time with the SON and in the Sun melt snow and ice. Cheer up self!  Spring is coming!
