who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.
Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done,
the things you planned for us. [Jeremiah 29:11]
None can compare with you;
were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.
_____Psalm of David. Psalm 40:4-5 NIV (annotated)
Spending time with David is like a taking a class on seeing God. And seeing God is integral to loving God. There is comfort in seeing God’s masterful hand work in my (your) life. When God’s mysterious but skillful movement in our hearts and the hearts of others is revealed, I find myself grasping for words. (Hard to believe? lol) God’s revelation of Himself is the thawing of the ice of God’s silence in times of testing. Then I am awestruck with reassurance that ALL that God does comes from a trustworthy and loving heart.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” __Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done,and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered Psalm 40:4-5 KJV
