Our Father

Jesus, the Son of God said: “ After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” ___Matthew 6:9-13 KJV

Easter speech 1

When I was a child, trying to memorize  this passage it seemed soooooo long . And words like “hallowed” and “temptation” were foreign to me. Now I see that The Lord’s Prayer  was probably shorter than my Easter speech.   Here I am saying my Easter speech  lol   →   →   →

Our Father. . . .  We are God’s family!   .   Jesus is Lord.   Jesus is also our brother and our friend.  In John 15:15, Jesus said I no  longer  call you servant, I call you friend. (John 15:15) God’s name is holy, hallowed, consecrated and to be honored.

God’s will will be done on earth. God’s Words shows us God’s will.bread sliced

Each morning, God provided fresh manna to the Israelites in the desert and He has promised to provide for all our needs (Philipians 4:19).

We are graced to be graceful.  Jesus knows the weight of unforgiveness; the weight of carrying the misdeeds of others ( and our own  past sins).  God is well able to mend our hearts and emotions; to“restore our souls” .  Forgiveness is a decision, an act of faith__ not a feeling.

Father, keep us from temptation, keep us from evil.  Thank you God for discernment and the Holy Spirit that is always with us to show us God’s way. We have the Holy Spirit to “keep us.”

Our Holy Father has a glorious kingdom and has promised a place for us.  Now that is a family reunion to look forward to!
