Thanksgiving Day

Happy Thanksgiving DayApples gourds cornicopia

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

1Thessalonians 5:18 KJV

When I first encountered this verse it was probably in an Our Daily Bread devotional.  I had seen and heard it before but I avoided it.  What I mean is, I would not make it personal.   Because when I say  Thank you, I really mean it.  Maybe not on the Oscar acceptance speech level, but I am grateful; not entitled.   But it just did not seem practical or even possible to give thanks in everything and really mean it.

So when  am I grateful?Cornicopia on wooden floor

  •   When I receive a gift
  •   When someone provides a service for me
  •   When someone says something kind or thoughtful
  •  When someone tells me the truth “in love”
  •  When someone takes the blame for something that I have done

Well God does all that  AND MORE!  Jesus did it ALL.  What do I have that God hasn’t given me?

For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?” __Corinthians 4:7 KJV

It wasn’t a feeling.  It was a decision to change my perception and deliberately look for the good in everything. Then as I matured , I looked for the God  in everything  .  .  .  .  . Because

Yes, God Is In Everything!
