Waiting on God

One moment please————————-   —————————-   ————————-   ———————   ————————–   —- —————–

Now that I no longer ask “Why God why?”   .   .   .  I  hear an echo of  .  .  .  “When God when?”

For me, the scariest verse in the Bible is not found in John’s Revelation describing the second coming of Christ with its  multi-headed beasts and the lake of fire  but  Second Peter 3: 8-9: “, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

My timing mechanism looks like this egg timer030218_0028_0591.wbc and God is using a calendar.  Now THAT  is a recipe for frustration.

I can not honestly say that I have reconciled these two principles but I have made a conscious and deliberate decision to surrender to God’s wisdom and His timing.  And I do this just about every day that my observable  circumstances remain the same.  Daily  I choose to  surrender my “bus-like” time schedule to the fact that God  is  all knowing and He has proved Himself  faithful not to be late

Now this is not my first “marathon”  (ooh I want to say rodeo) .  if I can accurately recall, the last time I was in this place, I found  my kinsman  David in the Psalms .

LORD, what am I waiting for?

And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.   Psalm 39:6-8  (Psalm of David)

  Inevitably someone mentions Job   .  .  .  .

If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.    Job 14:13-15

When I looked for good, then evil came unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.   Job 30:25-27

 .   .  .   and I  lose it!  (lol)

I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.  Psalm 69:2-4

Back on track

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.  Psalm 37:6-8 (Psalm of David)

Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them  be ashamed which transgress without cause.  Psalm 25:2-4    and v. 21  Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

The Answer

For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Hebrews 10:35-37

Because while I wait with my eyes on God, my Father GOD IS WORKING.

Waiting on God is a decision, a choice to believe that God will do what He  said in His Word that  He will do.

But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.__ John 5:17

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. __ Isaiah 40:30-31
When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence. For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him .Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.  Isaiah 54; 3-5
